Expecting the Unexpected

You know those moments where you look back and just can’t believe how different your life turned out compared to what you pictured?!

That’s me… constantly.

I never thought I’d move to Seattle. Never imagined I’d work in finance. Definitely didn’t think I’d lose 65 pounds, and actually keep it off. And I really didn’t think I’d end up starting my own business. But each of those unexpected turns taught me something way bigger than I could’ve planned for, and I have zero regrets because of those amazingly scary outcomes.

The things we don’t expect are often the exact things that build our resilience, our identity, and our strength.

Survival Mode Looked Like Control

Back then, I was doing everything I could to “get it together”. And from the outside it just looked like I was disciplined, focused on controlling my body, food, and routines. All in an effort to feel secure based on validation. But on the inside, I was exhausted, disconnected, and alone.

You see, it was never really about food, weight, or even achievement. It was about trying to prove to myself that I was enough, by proving it to everyone else. So when I reached my smallest weight and still felt empty… it hit me!

Nothing I was doing was sustainable, because none of it was rooted in self-trust.

The Unthinkable Isn’t Always a Bad Thing

That’s when the real change happened, and it wasn’t because I found the perfect plan. It was because I got tired of living by guilt, shame, and pressure. So, I stopped chasing “discipline” and started leaning into something that felt unfamiliar, self-belief.

The belief that I could shift course. That I could change careers, even if I didn’t know a single thing about finance. That I could start a business, even if people around me thought I was dreaming too big. That I could build a life that looked nothing like what I planned, but still felt more me than ever before.

And I did.

That’s what I want to remind you of today! You don’t need all the answers or a 10-step plan. You just need to give yourself permission to rewrite your story. To be curious enough and open-minded to the idea of a different path. To let life surprise you, even when it feels uncertain.

How to Rewrite Your Next Chapter

You don’t have to have it all figured out, because you never will. You just have to be willing to get honest with yourself, and consider:

  1. Looking Back: “What unexpected twist in your life led to growth you couldn’t see at the time?”

  2. Checking In: “Where do you feel stuck, disconnected, or ready for something more?”

  3. Dreaming Bigger: “If there were no limits, what would your next chapter look like?”

  4. Making One Small Move: “What’s one thing you could do this week to align more with that version of you?”

  5. Writing a Note to Future You: Start with, "I’m proud of you for…", and let that be the reminder you come back to when doubt creeps in.

Trust Me

Sometimes the best things in life come from the roads you never planned to travel. Keep going, please! You’re building something better than you imagined. And if you want to talk about it, you can email me at info.khhllc@gmail.com.
